Linda H. Balbort, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at her home, due to complications of COPD.
Born March 29, 1939, in Erie, NY, she was the daughter of Herbert C. and Viola A. Heinen Jacobson. She married Bill Balbort of Burlington, on September 15, 1962.
Linda and Bill owned and operated Balbort's Confectionary on North Hill for over 35 years. She always enjoyed running into "people from the neighborhood" when she was out and about.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1956.
Linda was a fighter from the day she was born and was always wanting to "Live" life. She was full of fire and love. The freedom and independence that she had, living on their family's farm, meant so much to her. What she loved most in life was, "da boyz," her family, her old friends, and her home. She enjoyed singing along with the Gaithers on Saturday nights, cutting grass on the riding lawn mower, fishing, mushrooming, skiing, sketching/drawing, the wildlife which surrounded her, and the simple beauty that Mother nature surrounded her with.
Survivors include three daughters, Kris (Ed) Engel of O Fallon, MO, Tracy Balbort of West Burlington, & Becky (Chris) Vanderhaar of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren; one sister, Annie Beckerman of Brighton, CO; and eight nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Bill, she is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Herbie.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials have been established for PAWS Animal Shelter and Crossroads Community Church.
