Robert "Bob" Anderson, 80, of Burlington, died at 4:35 PM Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born April 1, 1937, in Columbus Junction, he was the son of Francis Peter and Mary Elizabeth Collett Anderson. On August 8, 1962, he married Barbara Donna Hallberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington.

Bob worked as a design engineer I at J.I. Case Company for 28 years, retiring in 1997.  Prior to working at J.I. Case, Bob worked for John Deere and IAAP.

He was a 1955 graduate of Burlington High School and later attended Southeastern Community College in the evenings to further his education. He received a CATIA and Pro-E (Computer Aided Design) to become a Design Engineer.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis, from December 2, 1959 until March 1, 1962.

He was a member of Midwest Vintage Racing Club and Harley-Davidson Rider Club. Bob received many awards over the years, including 29 Design Patents in his name as a designer for J.I. Case, 1972 Midget Racing Ultra Rookie of the Year and 1994 Knoxville Masters Classic Rookie of the Year. He enjoyed racing, playing his guitar, riding motorcycles, boxing in the Army, and all sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Robert Henry (Joni) Anderson of Burlington, David Glen (Heidi) Anderson of Burlington; one daugher-in-law, Lisa Anderson of Carthage, IL, nine grandchildren, Codey, Bailey, Carter, Brett, Morgan, and Brad Anderson, Corbyn, Ciarra, and Coulton Wascher; one great-grandchild Taran Anderson; one brother, Roger (Sandy) Anderson of Indianapolis, ID, six sisters-in-law, Linda Anderson, Judy Anderson, Sherry Anderson, Nancy McKee, Karen Anderson, Sue (George) Moehle of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald, five brothers, Jim, Dean, Jerry, Donald, and David Anderson, and one sister Lois I. Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home, with the family to receive friends. 

The funeral service for Mr. Anderson will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service.  

Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service. 

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
