Pamela Sue (Walter) Hellberg entered this earth a ball of fire on September 2nd, 1956. The world lost that light as she peacefully passed on, surrounded by her family at her home on June 8th 2017 at 6:15 PM after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Charles "Ike" Fredrick and Margaret Ann Walter in Stockton, California. She grew up in California and Iowa and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1974. She would go on to receive her electrician's certificate from Creston College and later a Bachelors in Psychology from Iowa Wesleyan College.

She was joined in marriage to David Harold Hellberg on March 24, 1978 in Burlington, Iowa and spent 39 years married to her best friend.

Pam had many jobs and career paths in her life including being an electrician, medical assistant, bookkeeper, tax preparer, entrepreneur and teacher, but her greatest and most important job was being the best mother to her five children and a loving wife to her husband.

Pam was also known by the nick-name given to her - “Kickin’-Ass Bitch”, which was a good representation of her strong-willed and independent nature.

Pam was a great cook, loved doing macramé, yarn work, being and working outside and taking care of her plants, which she was extraordinarily good at.  She loved nature and all its living creatures.

Pam is survived by her husband, her children Dustin Hellberg of Seoul, South Korea; Zachary Hellberg of Iowa City, IA; Samantha (Seth Garrett) Hellberg of Burlington, IA; Jennifer (Mitch) Mehaffy of Cambridge, IL; and Lisa (Ben) Golwitzer of Mason City, IA; her 5 grandchildren Zoe Hellberg, Miles Middaugh, Zuriel Garrett, Henry Mehaffy, and Kai Garrett; her mother; her sisters Cheri (Pat) Dacy, Kathi (Don) Coleman, Robyn Walter; her brother Jeff Walter; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, one nephews, and one great-niece.

Pam was an exception, and an exceptional person.  She had a wild spirit and brought joy to this world that was unmatched and will be sorely missed.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The celebration of life for Mrs. Hellberg will be from 10:00 Am until 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the large shelter house in Dankwardt Park..
