Neil Arthur Bruss II, 46, of Stockport, died at 10:10 AM Monday, February 27, 2017, near Mediapolis due to a tragic accident.

Born June 3, 1970, in Tillicum, WA, he was the son of Neil and Carol Lynn Morgenroth Bruss. On March 18, 1995, he married Vanessa Hootman-Cotner in Winfield, IA. 

Neil was a supervisor for Grout Scouts in Fort Madison.

He attended Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant.  He was a volunteer for the Stockport Fire & Rescue for the past three years.  He enjoyed hunting with his bow and muzzle loader, fishing, camping, and was an avid outdoorsman. Neil was a self taught jack of all trades, and could build or fix anything.  He enjoyed being a Shade Tree Mechanic, and working on his house and man cave. Neil was a collector of Coca Cola, Green Bay Packers, Chevy Novas, and Dale Earnahrdt memorabilia. Most of all, Neil enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Trent (Sesalie Shields) Hootman of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Tosha (Earl Griffin) Nichols of Mount Pleasant, and Nicole (Ronnie Withrow) Cotner of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Clinton Shields-Hootman, Shailah Hootman, Elijah Nichols, Avayah Griffin, King Griffin; his parents, Neil & Carol Bruss, Sr. of Waldo, WI; one brother, Bill (Amy) Bruss of Sheboygan, WI; two sisters, Lorrie (Dennis) Kluck, and Michelle (Bob) Rittberg both of Adell, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Allen & Irma Morgenroth, and his paternal grandparents, Louis J. & Dorthy Bruss.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday at the Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mr. Bruss will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Harris officiating.  Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established for the Bruss Family and the Stockport Fire & Rescue.
