Marjorie "Marge" Weathers

December 11, 1921 ~ May 31, 2018 (age 96)

Marjorie "Marge" Weathers, 96, of Burlington, died at 12:20 AM Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born December 11, 1921, in Indiana, she was the daughter of Eli and Caroline Siegle Keidel. In 1942, she married Jack Weathers in Great Bend, Kansas. 

Marge worked as an LPN for many years. She started some of the first nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Iowa.

She loved to travel. She traveled around the world twice, visiting every continent (except Antarctica) but never seeing the same place twice. She had innumerable stories about her travels and worked as a tour guide in Mexico. She lived in Texas for 30 years, was an entrepreneur and was friends with everyone she met. 

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Curtiss of Burlington; two grandchildren, Ken (Trisha) Curtiss of Ft. Madison, and Jason Curtiss of Burlington; four great-grandchildren: Aaron, Selena, Megan and Madison, and one sister, Imogene Brownfield of IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and one sister, Delores Cross. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Weathers will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Oakland Cemetery, Ft. Madison. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Union Presbyterian Church in Fort Madison following the burial.
