John Verle Fenton, 56, of Burlington, passed away at 2:40 PM Sunday, October 6, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City surrounded by family.
Born October 25, 1962, in Burlington, he was the son of Verle L. and Esther Frances Mutchler Fenton. On June 28, 1991, he married Brenda LeDuc in Burlington.
After graduating high school, John completed a four year electrician apprenticeship.
John was a licensed journeyman electrician.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church. John enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, riding his motorcycle and going to flea markets or gun shows. He liked to watch TCM, classic movies, comedies, especially Two and a Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond and Seinfeld and NASCAR, particularly Kyle Busch. John was an avid listener and participant of KCPS Radio.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Fenton of Burlington; three children, Jessica Davis, John Eric (Shantae) Fenton and Nicole (Nathan) Fritz all of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Jashira, Alexis, Parker, Isaiah, Dawson, Jaylynn, Jasmine and Ava; one brother, Steve (Lisa) Fenton of Burlington, three sisters, Becky (Phil) John, Lorayne Fenton and Dianna Fenton all of Burlington and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and one sister, Racheal Ann Fenton.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for John will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Melisa Bracht-Wagner officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at The Loft on Jefferson following service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Diabetes Association.
