Carl James (Jim) Siefken , 87, of Burlington, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born November 17, 1929, in Burlington, he was the son of Carl H. and Alma  Flynn Siefken. On September 8, 1951, he married Donna Sheets in Phoenix, AZ. 

Carl was the international sales and service manager for Fort Madison operations Sheaffer Eaton Division of Textron Inc.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran Private 1st Class.

He was a member, elder, and deacon of First Presbyterian Church. Carl was able to fix about anything; he also had a kit that he used to build his family's first color T.V. He enjoyed playing on his bowling team and shuffle board team, playing cards and games, and duck hunting with his dad. Carl loved traveling every year and had been to all 50 states; he and Donna had traveled to 48 states with their children and then to Hawaii and Alaska after the kids had grown up. He also enjoyed camping in a tent, travel trailer, and an R.V., reading, telling jokes and antidotes and was known for saying, "Now hear this."

Survivors include his wife, Donna Siefken; one son, Allen Siefken of Colton, Oregon; three daughters, Arlene (John) Henry of Burlington, Caroline (Randy) Schnoebelen of Clear Lake, and Connie (Carlon) Todd of West Burlington; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Robert, Sarah, Mary, Matthew, Daniel, Philomena, Stephen, Christopher, Trevor, Carissa and Catherine; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Phillips.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 where the family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church.

The funeral service for Mr. Siefken will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Debra L. Kinney officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.  

A memorial has been established for First Presbyterian Church.
