Edd West, 89, of Burlington, died at 5:35 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 18, 1928, in St. Louis, he was the son of Edd and Rushia West. On May 26, 2001, he married Barbara Ihrer at Bethany Lutheran Church.
He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 43 years. He also worked for J.I. Case Company for 17 years. He retired in 1991.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. At his church he was a member of Senior Saints, a member of the choir, and church council. He was a life-long member of the V.F.W., Teamster's Union and the Moose Lodge. He was also a past member of United Commercial Travelers and past Grand Counciler for the State of Iowa. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and dancing.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Melinda Graves of CA, Cathleen West-Moore of Advance, MO, and Lisa Kolb of St. Louis; two sons, Edd West, Jr., and Steven West of Omaha, NE; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. West will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Hermansen officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Burial will in Oquawka Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and the Steamboat Senior Center.
