Victor Bruce Hunter, 80, of Burlington, died at 5:50 AM Monday, July 17, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House.
Born in Corning, IA, he was the son of James Ross and Rosenia Ida Burkhalter Hunter. On November 11, 1967, he married Mary Ann Lofton in Burlington.
Victor served in the National Guard working full time in the armory for 25 years as well as being a volunteer reservist on the weekends. Following an honorable discharge he worked for Railway Express and J.I.Case. He also co-owned the House of Crafts with his wife for ten years.
He moved to Burlington with his parents in his younger years and presided there the rest of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, gardening, reading, taking care of his chickens and the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terrell (Debbie) Hunter of Washington, IA, and Bruce (Brenda) Hunter of Burlington; three grandchildren, Hillary, Zach, & Abby Hunter; three brothers, Larry Hunter of Oregon, IL, David (Connie) Hunter of Burlington, and Ron (Pam) Hunter of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Rosalind (Jim) Bails of Waukee, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
There will be a family celebration of life at a later date.
