Thomas "Tom" Matthew Hoschek, 63, of Burlington, died at 7:35 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born July 25, 1953, in Burlington, he was the son of Stephen Matthew and Leona Lee Griffith Hoschek.
I had one hell of a ride. My whole life was a celebration, it was fun. I could tell a great story and was the best bull-shitter around. I was a Navy, Vietnam Veteran and served on the USS Oklahoma City. Damn proud of it. I loved everybody and got the feeling they loved me too. I'd give you the shirt off my back if I knew it'd fit ya.
I married the love of my life July 26, 1975, Mary Alice, and boy was she a looker. We are soul mates, my one and only. We sure loved to boat, travel, fish, laugh, bicker and laugh some more. We have three great kids; Deano, Missy MeeMee and Meggie MooMoo. I taught them everything they know.
I loved the river, a good party, hunting, fishing and a damn good laugh. We had some great ones, didn't we. Remember those, will ya. I loved being a grandpa. Taught them all how to fish, hunt, drive and most importantly, love.
I lived. We Lived.
I'm survived by my wife Mary, three children, Dean (Julie), Melissa (Tommy) and Megan; four grandchildren, Logan, Garrett, Brookie, and Lukie; two dogs, Samantha and Daizee (Daizee was the worst gift we ever got). Three brothers Mike (Kathy) Hoschek, Tim (Sue) Hoschek and Scott (Kris) Hoschek; one sister Sue (Craig) Spear and my nieces and nephews who I loved.
I am preceded in death by my parents.
Have a drink for me, will ya?
I'll see ya around.
