Thomas A. Puhy, 70, of Burlington, died at 1:45 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017, at The Madison in Fort Madison.
Born November 27, 1946, in Dearborn, MI, he was the son of Joseph Vincent and Cecelia Delores Urban Puhy. On November 8, 1968 he married Sandy Lewis in Monroe, MI. They later divorced. On August 21, 1979 he married Sharon A. Thompson in Toledo, OH. They later divorced. On May 26, 2001, he married Carolyn E. Holstein in Zion United Church of Christ, Burlington.
Thomas was a machine operator and inspector for Champion Spark Plug for 30 years.
He was a 1964 graduate of Rogers High School in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the University of Toledo, Toledo, OH.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He attended Burlington First Assembly of God Church. Tom had a very close relationship with God and he loved his family. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing tennis, guitar & piano, going to the YMCA, gardening, visiting nursing home friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Victor D. Puhy of Grand Rapids, MI, Vincent T. Puhy of Burlington, Raymond (Kammi) Gill of Perrysburg, OH, & Nicholas Gill of Toledo, OH; two daughters, Janelle S. (Jesse) Gnann of Fort Madison, Dr. Melissa E. Marino of West Hills, CA; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph A. (Lynn) Puhy of West Bloomfield, MI, Gerard F. Xavier (Donna) Puhy of Arlington Heights, IL, Gregory T. (Sara) Puhy of Westport, CT, & Kenneth L. (Denise) Puhy of Gross Point Park, MI; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Raymond Puhy.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, July 17, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Puhy will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Burlington First Assembly of God Church with Scott Collier officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Burlington First Assembly of God Church following the service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
