Theresa Beach Taylor, 88, of West Burlington, died at 2:52 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Great River Medical Center.
Born March 16, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, IA, she was the daughter of John and Margaret Liesen Beach. On August 17, 1955, she married Ware Hall Taylor in Tucson, AZ. He died April 26, 2017
Theresa worked for one year at Sheaffer Pen and for nine years at the former Henry County Savings Bank as a head bookkeeper. Theresa worked side by side with her husband farming for several years.
She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1947.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Business Women's Club, the Alter & Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella of West Point, and St. Theresa's Society of SS John & Paul Church in Burlington. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling. She enjoyed quilting and made money for charity. She was an avid hand quilter and received many awards for her work for over thirty years.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Taylor of Las Vegas, NV, and Barbara McKasson of West Burlington; two granddaughters, Jessica and Melissa of Burlington; and three great-grandchildren, Lathan, Derrick Jr., and Laylah.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one in infancy, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, May 22, 2017, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Taylor will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 22, 2017, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father Bill Roush as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A time of food and fellowship will be held at SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church Parrish Center following the service. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital & the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
