Shane Samuel Houseal, 41, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home.
Born June 27, 1975, in Burlington, he was the son of Michael James and Nancy Rose Houseal Knotts.
Shane was a quality control supervisor at Winegard.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Iraq War from March 15, 2003 until May 30, 2004. Shane was very honored to be an American Soldier.
He lived for his kids and enjoyed spending time with his boys. He enjoyed fishing, watching Chicago Cubs baseball games, disc golf, sporting events with his family, working out at the gym, and having a cold beer with his friends & family.
Survivors include his mother and father Nancy (Mike) Knotts; three sons, Samuel Scott Houseal, Alexander Michael Houseal, & Noah James Houseal all of Burlington; his maternal grandmother, Lena Houseal of Burlington; one brother, Shon (Heather) Knotts of Manchester, IA; one sister, Shenda (K.V.) Vikturek of Fort Madison; his former wife and mother of the children, Hollie Ballard of Burlington; & several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM with the family to receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Houseal will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
A memorial has been established for his son's continued education.
