Rose Ann Avery, 65, of Burlington, died at 8:10 pm Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born May 17, 1950, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Lyle Johnston and Mary Theresa Meller Johnston. On July 21, 1979, she married Allen Avery in Burlington, Iowa at St. John's Catholic Church.
Rose was a homemaker and worked in food service in the Burlington School System.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1969.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church where she grew up going to church with her mother and grandparents and most recently attended New Hope Community Church off of Summer Street. She loved her family and working at the school with the kids. She enjoyed square dancing at the Circle Square B Dance Club.
Survivors include husband of Burlington; one sister, Becky Garland of Farmer City, IL; many nieces, nephews; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one half-brother and one half-sister.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory.
The memorial service for Mrs. Avery will be 10:30 AM Thursday, October 22, 2015, at New Hope Community Church with Myron Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the New Hope Community Church, Back Pack Buddies and Grimes Elementary School, where she loved all of the kids.
