Robert "Bob" Joseph Moraniec

Robert "Bob" Joseph Moraniec, 85, of Burlington, died at 6:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Bickford Cottage in Burlington.

Born June 10, 1932, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of Alexander and Angela Lasecki Moraniec. He grew up on a farm in Michigan and was active in Future Farmers of America. On August 24, 1957, he married Léo Denise Corriveau, they later divorced in 1968.  On June 21, 1969, he married Margaret Ann "Peggy" Rea in Burlington. 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Michigan State University in Agricultural Engineering.

He worked as an engineer for IAAP, Case Co., and Champion. He also owned and maintained many rental properties around Burlington.

Bob was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish and attended St. Paul Catholic Church. He had a passion for the Montessori education for children and passed on those ideals to his children and grandchildren. He was member of the Knights of Columbus Council #568, and a founder of KCDM Radio.  He was an active member of the Right to Life organization and Birthright in Burlington. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering, fixing things, garage sales, collecting, attending church every day that mass was available, and riding his motorcycle to Dairy Queen. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his three sons, David (Dana) Moraniec of Ankeny, IA, Mark Moraniec of Burlington, Dominic (Stacy) Moraniec of Burlington; four daughters, Therese (Ted) Spitulski of Hardy, VA, Monica (David) Mundhenke of Waterloo, IA, Maria (Joel) Hoshaw of Johnstown, PA, Mary (Ken) Henry of Alpharetta, GA;  thirteen grandchildren, Nicholas (Kristi) Deal, Samantha (David) Bridge, Christopher (Brittany) Deal, Jaclyn (Todd) Keith, Jessica Moraniec, Alex (Emily) Moraniec, Marc Mundhenke, Kristen Mundhenke, Joshua Mundhenke, Mac Moraniec, Kennedy Moraniec, Parker Henry and Alicia Henry; six great-grandchildren with two on the way; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Rea of Fort Madison, IA and Carolyn Moraniec of Groom, TX.

Besides his wife, Peggy, he was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Angela, one brother James Moraniec, and one son, Jimmy Moraniec.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Moraniec will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Paul's Catholic Church with and Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant and Rev. Father Michael T. Phillips as the Con-Celebrant.  Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Following the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Paul's Church Hall.

A memorial has been established for the KCDM radio station.
