Joanne Evans, 80, of Burlington, died at 12:48 PM Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Danville Care Center in Danville.
Born February 1, 1937, in Milton, IA, she was the daughter of Lial Jesse and Florence E. Baldwin Humphrey. On October 25, 1952, she married Donald Eugene Evans in Milton, IA.
Joanne worked for 20 years as a bookkeeper and 20 years of nursing in long term care facilities.
She enjoyed gardening, camping and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of the ladies of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club ladies auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; two sons, Rick (Lynne) Evans of Sperry, and Mike (Penny) Evans of Burlington; one daughter, Cheryl A. (Chip) Carlson of Morton, IL; six grandchildren, Chad Evans, Kyle Evans, Harry (Kathleen) Carlson, Ian Carlson, Derek (Savanna) Evans, Kali (Shawn) Schwabe; two great grandchildren; Claire Schwabe and Hayzel Evans; two sisters, Susan (Roger) Schaeffer of Prophetstown, IL, and Sandy (Steve) Hainline of Bonaparte; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Shirley Baxter, one niece, Michelle, and one nephew Richard.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Evans will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Tracey Burgus officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, IA.
A memorial has been established for Southeastern Community College Nursing Program for a Scholarship.
