Helen Frances (Bushman) Ives, 96, of Burlington, died at 11:35 PM Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Arbor Court Nursing Home in Mount Pleasant.
Born August 29, 1921, in Ottumwa, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Mary McGowan Bushman. She married Max Woodrow Ives. He died on August 15, 1978.
Helen was a homemaker for most of her life and she helped her daughter run an in-home day-care for 30 years.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. She enjoyed watching T.V.; especially "The Golden Girls", soap operas and EWTN, the Global Catholic Television Network. Helen's faith and spending time with her family was very important to her.
Survivors include her two sons, Joe (Gloria) Ives of Blakesburg, IA, and Mark (Mary) Ives of Pine Bluff, AR; three daughters, Pam (Fritz) Merrit of Burlington, Mary Potter of Pine Bluff, AR and Angela Marie (Fidel) Garcia of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, one daughter, Janis Williams, one sister, Mary Agnes Slowakowski, one grandson, Stevie Ives, and one son-in-law, Bill Potter, Jr.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM following a Rosary Service at 5:00 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Ives will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 2, 2018, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Burlington.
