DeMarcus Antonio Chew, 26, of Burlington, died at 6:27 AM Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the Great River Medical Center.
Born June 29, 1991, in Burlington, he was the son of Timothy Chew Sr. and Cassandra Taylor.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 2010.
He attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Demarcus loved rapping and had dreams of becoming a rapper. He enjoyed track, basketball, football, hanging out with his friends, shopping, and taking care of his daughters.
Survivors include his father, Timothy Chew, Sr. of MO; his mother, Cassandra Taylor of Burlington; the mother of his two daughters, Stasia Ross of Burlington; two daughters, Amariana M. Chew and Aaliyah D. Chew both of Burlington; grandparents, Lula M. Williams, Noria Tyler, Jean Chew; four brothers, Timothy Chew, Jr. and Deandre Severado both of Burlington, Corbin Chew of Mount Pleasant, and Austin Woodside of Des Moines; four sisters, Whitney Woodside of Des Moines, Tresha Danzy and M'Shayla Severado both of Burlington, and Mahala Chew of Mount Pleasant; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Emmitt Danzy, grandfather, Larry Taylor, and great-grandparents, Bessie Mae Duncan, Connie Duncan Sr., and Sarah Mae Booth.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Chew will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 15, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Supt. Mr. Fred Starling officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A repast will be held following the burial at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
