History of the Prugh Family
In August of 1852 Mr. Isaac Prugh began the Prugh Family business as a
manufacturer of fine furniture, coffins, and cabinetry. The Prugh family became
known for excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. In 1880, Isaac Prugh passed
the family business on to his son, Burton Asbury Prugh. B.A. handed the family
business down to his son, Norval Prugh in 1909. Norval passed the business to his son, Robert Burton
Prugh Sr., who handed it down to his son, Robert Burton Prugh Jr.. Burton Jr. worked
with his Dad starting in 1971. Burton Jr. passed the business to his daughter, Lindsay (Prugh) Fruehling, in 2015. Burton continues to be active in the business and enjoys working with his daughter and seeing the family business continue under her guidance . As one of Burlington's founding families
and businesses, the Prugh family takes great pride in its strong commitment to serving
the people of the Burlington, West Burlington, and surrounding communities for six generations. They feel honored by the families who have placed their trust in them.
The History of the Hass and
In 1985 Burnell &
Theresa Hass purchased the former Harrison House Restaurant on the corner of
Main and Harrison. Following a complete renovation, it became the Hass Funeral
Home. Adam Thielen began assisting his grandparents in 1992 while still in high
school. Following the death of his grandfather, Adam’s ownership of the funeral
home became official on July 1st, 2004.
Adam and wife, Theresa Thielen, began a complete facelift of the
facility shortly after taking ownership. After several years of serving
Burlington families from their old location, Adam and Theresa felt they needed
to expand their business and began construction of a new facility in April of
2009. The new state of the art building, located on Division Street in
Burlington, was completed in September of 2009.
The Future of Funeral

On September 1, 2015
Prugh Funeral Service purchased Thielen Funeral Home and merged the staff from
the two locations. The staff at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home is proud to serve their community and will continue to provide the best service in Burlington.
